Anecdote was founded in 2009 by Jetteke van der Wyck van Beuningen, as she felt the need for an authentic, timeless brand that is not focused on delivering fast fashion, but on offering women a sort of kinship; high quality pieces that become those cherished items you end up wearing throughout the rest of your life.
All Anecdote pieces are designed with relentless dedication and an unconditional focus on quality, color palette and detail. During the design process the same question always takes a principal stand: Are you going to love and wear this item for many years to come?
Every collection is based on Jetteke’s personal stories. Her inspiration always expresses itself subtly in the Anecdote designs and can be detectable through the use of a specific color, a distinct texture or a unique outline. You will find fragments of these stories, her Anecdotes, throughout our brand.
At Anecdote, we work with a small and dedicated team in an old gallery on the canals, in the heart of Amsterdam.

To guarantee this quality, we only work with carefully selected leading European suppliers and manufacturers. Often family-owned businesses that have the same focus on quality and passion for creating beautiful pieces as we have.
Most of our suppliers and manufacturers are based in Italy, Portugal and Spain and all are specialist in their field: whether it’s knitting the softest sweaters or tailoring the perfect jacket.
Materials we source are almost always locally produced, to reduce the need for unnecessary transportation, but also increases transparancy in make, composition and minimize impact on nature.
French fields of elegance, SS18 inspiration
The French Provence in all its warm and embracing summery beauty has been the source of inspiration for Anecdote Spring Summer ’18, creating an elegant collection with a modern silhouette.
Views of Bougainville florals draped on city houses; wandering through the fields of lavender, running your fingers through the flowers and bathing in the scent.
Imagine French blue sun bleached shutters, hanging lanterns and crumbling walls heated by the Provence sun. These elements of the Provence are translated in toruffled details and romantic prints, as well as reimagined in Anecdote’s alluring colour range. Popped with fresh pink and yellow, the refined jacquard knits and graceful dresses in French blue easily mix with classic stripes. Designed to fit into the Anecdote woman’s lifestyle, this collection symbolize lightness, elegance and femininity in its timeless and natural state.
